Flash H technology is based on ultra-fast heat generation by applying microwave engineering to technical ceramics fed by planar technology, achieving great homogeneity in temperature distribution and high energy efficiency (patent pending with UPV and CSIC).
The system is based on heating cells, made of a ceramic element with a conductive inner material, radio-electrically isolated by using metal sheets .

 

Heating Cells

These cells are designed to absorb all the microwave energy they receive, turning it into heat which is accumulated in the ceramic matrix. This ceramic matrix is able to release the thermal energy slowly. Microwave energy is generated by an ordinary magnetron, which is a very low-cost device due to its massive use in microwave ovens. This energy is then distributed to each cell in a homogeneous and totally safe way using planar technology.

Ceramic material

A new material is developed. the MBT 01, which is able to rise its temperature when it’s illuminated by microwave energy but, once microwave energy is removed, it can hold its temperature following the ceramic matrix thermal inertia, therefore losing its temperature very slowly. The figure show the Thermal behaviour of MBT01 (green) inside a microwave oven  (1 kW) compared to the thermal behaviour of its ceramic-base material (brown) in a conventional electric oven (1 kW)

Value proposal

The main value of this technology is its ability to achieve the work temperatures very fast, avoiding wasting time and energy while process temperature is reached. Laboratory experiences indicate that potential energy saving using this technology, compared with conventional heating, is about 95% for temperatures below 150ºC, 85% for temperatures up to 600ºC and 75% for temperatures up to 1250ºC. Consequently, savings in CO2 footprint will be estimated as 0.71 kg CO2 per kWh saved.
